Involving your partner

Dad and BabyIf you’ve been breast-feeding, or if your partner is at work, it can sometimes feel like you’re always the one left holding the baby. But getting your partner involved is both crucial for his relationship with the little one, as well as important for your sanity! And now that your baby is beginning to move around and play a lot more, there are plenty of chances for your partner to get stuck in.

Feeding
Now that your baby is weaning on to solids, mealtimes can be an ideal time for your partner to get involved, by helping them discover new tastes and textures and enjoy all the spills, tears and laughter that come with it.

Playing
Even if your partner works during the day, he can still spend some quality time playing with the little one when he gets home. It’s a great way for him to unwind after a stressful day, and baby will love having dad to play with.

Bathing and bedtime
Babies love bathtime and this is a great chance for your partner to have some fun with his little one. Once they’re washed, changed and dressed, your partner can read them a story and have a cuddle before putting them to bed.

Baby chores
Sterilising bottles, changing nappies, washing baby clothes…okay, so they’re not as much fun, but they’re just as important. These are the tasks that you’ll want to share, and why not? Chances are your partner will be happy to help if it means you get to enjoy a bit of well-deserved time off.
