Julia, 33, says it was difficult getting to the root cause of her daughter’s eczema

“Jessie used to have really bad eczema when she was little. I mean really bad, so much so she mostly had bandages on her arms all the time. It really used to break my heart to see her skin all broken and it really irritated her. It didn’t make for a harmonious household. We went through so many different treatments, but they all seemed to be things that managed it rather than things that got to the root of the problem. 

“It felt like I really had to fight and fight to get the doctors to test her for allergies. There seemed like a real resistance against it. If you really think that your child has allergies you have to be really strong and insist on having the tests you want done. Eventually, we got Jess tested for milk intolerance and it turned out that she was intolerant to milk. 

“At first this was a real worry, but she has soya milk and vitamins and doesn’t have any animal milk now and although she still gets little patches her eczema is nothing like it used to be. It’s much much more pleasant for her and she’s a much happier little girl as a result.”
